As a kayaker, I’m prone to tight hips and overuse injuries. Between working in an office and kayaking, I do a lot of sitting. The programming at McHone provides a balanced approach and I’m stronger and more mobile as a result.  My lower back doesn’t hurt all the time, my hips are opening up, and my thoracic spine has more range.

On the water, I have more endurance to do longer days and strength to try harder moves. Training at McHone Performance Training has elevated my pursuit as a kayaker. If you’re looking for well-rounded programming that will make you stronger, more mobile, and leave you feeling more capable in your chosen activity as an athlete, this is the place to be. Our goal is to help improve all components necessary for mountain bikers, climbers, runners and paddlers to preform at the highest level and prevent injury. Using our Integrated Training approach we focus on Functional Strength and Neuromuscular Efficiency.

MPT’S MISSION

At Mchone Performance Training we are working hard to offer mountain sports athletes a different kind of gym, the kind of place where mountain athletes want to train and offer the workouts that we use.. We provide a high quality training environment for weekend warriors, competitive athletes(amateur to pro) and professional guides. Unlike similar training facilities, we excel at helping outdoor athletes who often have little to no prior gym experience, making us the best training community for outdoor athletes in Western North Carolina.
